Safety at San Jose Cecil

Safety at San Jose Cecil

San Jose Schools has been featured in numerous media reports for its cutting-edge security measures. San Jose Cecil will exceed the requirements set in the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Safety Act, which was signed into law in the State of Florida on March 9, 2018.

Security measures at the campus of San Jose Early College at Cecil:

  • Highly trained Guardians on campus at all times: The Guardians Program is offered by the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office, and it provides psychological and arms training for particular staff so they are especially able to handle an emergency situation.
  • New, state-of-the-art campus designed with safety and education in mind
  • Licensed mental health provider on site
  • School nurse employed to serve students' physical health concerns
  • Student Services team dedicated to the academic, emotional and social needs of our students
  • Security cameras
  • Key control access installed at all doors
  • Administrators, guardians and teachers watching at critical locations every time students change classes
  • Communication directly with parents via the SanJoseCecil.org website and a unique phone app, ParentSquare

A small-school environment (compared to the size of many other secondary schools in Northeast Florida) means teachers can get to know your child, and your child can feel like an important member of the San Jose Cecil school community.
